Gharamee – Bangla Theater Drama | Bishwajit Sarker as Saymon
Gharamee is a moving Bangla play that tells a story most history books forget. Written by Alok Basu and directed by Masud Parvez Mizu, it shines a light on the “Gharamis”—the traditional house-builders of Barisal—and their brave role in the 1971 Liberation War.
In this performance, Bishwajit Sarker plays Saymon. He does a great job showing the character’s quiet strength. Saymon isn’t loud or flashy; he’s a hardworking man dealing with a lot of pressure, yet he stays focused on his duty. Bishwajit uses simple, honest acting to show how much these “ordinary” people truly sacrificed.
